Meet the New APGAP Board Members! (Part 1)

Here, we'll will introduce you to two of our new board members! 

Meet Lisa Pierce, DNP, APRN, CPNP-AC

 

Lisa Pierce is the Director of Advanced Practice Clinical Education and Fellowship Programs at OSF HealthCare in Peoria, Illinois. Lisa graduated from Rush University in Chicago, IL with a Masters in Acute and Chronic Care Pediatrics in 2009, and earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Systems Leadership from Rush in 2016. She has worked for last ten years as an ACPNP at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois in the Pediatric ICU and a transitional care facility called Almost Home Kids. In 2015, she assumed her current director role, and created the first APP fellowship at OSF HealthCare in 2016 in Primary Care, which was accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs in 2017. Since that time, Lisa has expanded the fellowship to Pediatric Critical Care and General Neurology. Her research interests are advanced practice role transition and burnout, having published several manuscripts and spoken at both national and international conferences. Most recently, she led the operational implementation of three digital response programs related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and continues to serve as the Interim Director of the Pandemic Health Worker Program, Acute COVID at Home, and the OSF Digital Hospital at Home.

Gabriela graduated in 2015 with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from Cox College in Springfield, Missouri. She then went on to attend Saint Louis University where she completed the Acute Care Nurse Practitoner program and was awarded a Master''s of Science in Nursing in 2018. During this time she maintained any active career working as a Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Upon becoming a nurse practitioner she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to attend Atrium Healths Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship within the Hematology/Oncology Track.

After completing the year-long intensive fellowship she accepted a positon at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Cancer Hosptial working within the inpatient Malignant Hematology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team. She has maintained an active membership with Association of Post Graduate APRN Programs  (APGAP) since her time as a fellow. Gabriela recognizes the pivotal role post-graduate education plays in helping APPs transition from an educational role into that of a provider. She plans to begin her persuit of obtaining her Doctorate Nurse Practitioner at UNC starting in the fall of 2021.
