The General Neuroscience APP Fellowship is a one year program with the opportunity for employment following fellowship completion.  The Fellowship is located at OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute in Peoria, IL.  The format includes one day per week of didactic content including lectures, case studies, simulation, hands-on exam practice, as well as weekly neuroscience grand rounds consisting of neuroradiology, neurology, and neurosurgery topics.
The Fellowship program is designed for APRNs and PAs who want to specialize in adult general neurology.  The APP Fellows will be precepted in general neurology clinics and in numerous neuroscience subspecialty clinics.  The experiences will be mainly outpatient with some travel required to regional access clinics and some general neurology inpatient opportunities.  The Fellowship includes collaboration and educational experiences alongside University of Illinois College of Medicine Neurology Residency program.  The Fellowship program provides them with guided learning experiences for transition to practice as well as education and skill sets they need to become specialized in general neuroscience.
The Fellows will receive state of the art education and a unique simulation experience through Jump Simulation https://www.jumpsimulation.org/. Fellows find the opportunities for simulation, anatomical skills practice, and innovative learning strategies, like virtual reality, to be a key asset to the Fellowship programs at OSF HealthCare.
This Fellowship is an opportunity for new Advanced Practice Providers to receive ongoing mentoring, education, and feedback over a 12-month period. The OSF HealthCare General Neurology Fellowship is operated as part of the OSF HealthCare Center for Advanced Practice, building post-graduate programs using four guiding principles:
  1. Connect advanced practice professionals with experienced APPs and physicians within OSF who are champions for our mission, provide a supportive and challenging learning environment, and can prepare the next generation of health care providers.
  2. Serve our patients and their families with quality, evidenced-based care in a cost effective manner across all of our OSF communities.
  3. Share our successes and opportunities with the health care community to improve care for patients locally and nationally.
  4. Be Accountable to deliver key results to OSF HealthCare and the patients we serve
